Ayurveda is the ancient herbal system of medicines in India used to treat several diseases. Even today people in some parts of India believe that Ayurveda is the ultimate medicine for some diseases. Medicinal plants have a key role in combating human health issues since the Stone Age and they act as restorative, defensive and supportive agents for human body. Great results are obtained in Ayurveda even by applying it on fabrics due to its aroma and healing properties. Sustainability is the need of the hour today as the whole world is moving towards it. The special finishes namely antimicrobial, aroma, antibacterial, flame retardant and mosquito repellent finishes gain potentiality which could be effectively achieved through herbal treatments. It is essential to use Ayurvastra for its healing properties and ecofriendly nature. This chapter reviews about the sources of medicinal herbs, herbal extraction methods, application, salient assessments and their findings made in various research works on Ayurvastra. Importance of Ayurvastra in healing different health issues is also expressed.
