This paper presents an investigation of the first- and second-order statistics of the small-scale fading observed in short range indoor millimeter-wave channels between a user equipment (UE) and a ceiling-mounted access point (AP) operating at 60 GHz. In this study, three UE positions associated with common use cases were considered: making a voice call (head), sending a text message or operating an app (hand) and carrying a device (pocket). For the mobile line of sight (LOS) and nonLOS (NLOS) channel measurements, the user walked towards and away from the AP within an indoor hallway environment. The first- and second-order statistics of the Rice and Nakagami-m fading models were employed to characterize the small-scale fading behavior experienced in the UE-to-AP channels.
