Rapid technological changes in the present era have led companies to collaborate together to adapt to the dynamism of the environment. The main aid of this inter-organizational collaborations is to acquire knowledge. The most important field of knowledge in each organization is the knowledge about the organizational core competence. If the organization's core competence be dynamic and the organization be effective in acquiring it, organization would reach sustainable competitive advantage. Acquiring core competence knowledge from collaborations need specific considerations. This paper aims to investigate the factors affecting the process of acquiring core competence knowledge from inter-organizational collaborations. Four factors have found to affect this process: Senior management involvement, Intensity of efforts, Type of Collaboration, and Intention.
