With the rapid growing of users in the SNS environments, their network relationships in Internet have become as complex as in the real world. On the other hand, the user's social role plays an important role in providing individualized services, such as information recommendation in the SNS environments. However, as we know, people will switch or change their social roles dynamically in the real society, which is also true in the cyber network space, such as SNS. In this paper, we present a basic model to describe social roles in both the real world and the SNS environment, in which a set of attributes and factors are considered and introduced to represent the time-changing social roles in different situations and contexts.
