Home automation is designed to control the appliances and security systems automatically through the use of technology. Safety, convenience and ease of life are the primary reasons for this development. Research works are ongoing to include more features on it and also to make it cost-effective. By employing Raspberry pi, an internet based automation system has been developed in this work so that the access can be controlled by home owner or authorized persons remotely from anywhere in the world. This system not only proposes a cost effective solution but also emphasizes less power consumption that would bring greater benefits for the country.
