This paper proposes and investigates a unique highly nonlinear dispersion-flattened photonic crystal fiber (HNDF-PCF) via numerical simulation using the full vector finite difference method (FDM). Simulation results show that it is possible to get high nonlinear coefficient larger than 51W-1km-1 at 1.55μm wavelength, near zero ultra-flattened chromatic dispersion of 0 ± 0.4ps/(nm.km) which covers E+S+C+L telecommunication band, low chromatic dispersion slope of - 0.003ps/(nm2.km) and very low confinement losses of less than 10-7dB/km in the wavelength range of 1.4μm to 1.65μm. These results point to the suitability of the proposed HNDF-PCF to be used in the data communication system.
