Smart sheet forming employs a variety of technologies, including IoT, cloud, and fog‐based techniques. Hence, the implementation of new and emerging technologies in the production process makes it more scalable. The convergence of IoT and fog with the cloud computing paradigm is becoming increasingly significant in order to extend the cloud system while delivering services closest to the requirements. The IoT communication requirements that could be satisfied by application layer communication protocols are investigated, as well as their deep and complete (potential) implementation in cloud‐ and fog‐related IoT technologies are ensured.
