The article substantiates the directions of improvement of the institutional mechanism of management of relations between the state power and the public. It is established that the involvement of citizens through various forms in the formation and implementation of the institutional mechanism for managing the relationship between government and the public, the process of public decisionmaking reflects a new model of such interaction. A model of using the institutional mechanism for managing the relationship between government and civil society is proposed.
