Discussion
Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are innate-like T cells involved in anti-bacterial immunity. Recent studies have demonstrated that MAIT cells might be implicated in inflammatory bowel diseases. The frequency of MAIT cells in the blood and colon was correlated with UC disease activities. Actinobacteria have been found to be a low/non-stimulator for MAITs. The genus Bifidobacterium belongs to the phylum Actinobacteria and it comprises Gram-positive, non-motile, often branched anaerobic bacteria. The one of probable causes of the success of this application may be related to this mechanism also it can be speculated that intracolonic Bifidobacterium appliation might provide recovery of dysbiosis via providing higher biodiversity.
Conclusion
Intracolonic Bifidobacterium application is a new method that has no side effect and easy to apply for treatment of IBD. These application might provide …
