It is fact that not all the objective characteristics of alternatives affect decisions directly in a choice model. Some of them affect individual decisions through changes in the valuation of immeasurable alternative attributes, which are usually represented as latent variables. Traditionally, these characteristics have not been taken into consideration and the latent variables are usually explained only by the socioeconomic characteristics of the individuals. In this work, using a synthetic databank, we analyse the impact of including/omitting some of these variables, as well as the impact of different specifications of the models to consider these characteristics.
