This research investigates charging management strategies at workplaces in California. These strategies increase charging station utilization, which allows an optimized number of vehicles to charge. Over the summer of 2018, forty semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with current plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) drivers across California. The interviews revealed three styles of workplace charging management: authoritative, collective, and unmanaged. Twelve interviewees reported authoritative charging which includes digital queuing, a time limit with pricing, pricing, and valet charging. Four interviewees have collective management which includes day restrictions, time restrictions, messaging groups, and spreadsheets with driver information.
