Background
Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness afflicting young adults just as they approach their full potential, often resulting in a lifetime of severe disability. While many specific genetic and environmental risk factors have been identified, they are universally of low effect size, and their mechanisms of action within the complex cytoarchitecture of the human brain remain poorly understood.
Methods
We curated a cohort of postmortem human prefrontal cortex (BA10) tissue samples from 24 schizophrenia subjects and 24 matched controls, with 12 males and 12 females in each group. In this cohort we performed single-nucleus RNA sequencing using the 10x genomics platform and the Multiplexing Using Lipid Tagged Indices strategy for sample multiplexing.
