New thermodynamic descriptions of the Fe-Cr and Fe-Ni liquid phase have been obtained, which give better agreement with experimental data on the bcc/liquid or fcc/liquid tie-lines and liquidus temperatures in the Fe-rich region of the Fe-Cr-C and Fe-Cr-Ni ternary systems than in the previous assessments. The effect of the modification on the calculated phase equilibria in the other alloy systems including Fe and Cr or Fe and Ni were inspected and confirmed to keep the good agreements already obtained.
