简介
Ridesharing in Autonomous Vehicles will likely cause disruptive changes in the transportation sector that can be described using game-theoretic concepts. A laboratory game based-experiment involving a social dilemma in the choice of three automated modes was designed. Participants participated in one of two conditions of a mode choice multiplayer repeating game, receiving score feedback based on their actions and additional information. The ridesharing adoption rate reached over 60% in the recurring congestion scenario, and a user equilibrium was obtained for the road users (shared rides & private rides). The adoption rate reached 37% in the nonrecurring congestion scenario, but the user equilibrium emerged between all transportation modes (private rides, shared rides, and automated transit). The system optimum was identified using a simulation but only observed in very few rounds, which reached about 88% of the overall potential. The implications for the future deployment of ridesharing are further discussed.
