In recent advances in the field of power electronics technology, use of squirrel cage asynchronous machine with speed controller and industrial drives is rapidly growing. Due to expense of transducer, sensorless approaches are attracted much of interests. In the present paper, an online speed control of induction motor has been proposed by using Omron Yaskawa Motion Control V1000 Series Drive drive through two different Proportional-Integral-Derivative and super twisting controllers together with MATLABTM Simulink Software. In order to get the drive to work in a computer based configuration, Advantech 1710 High-Gain data acquisition card is used. Practical experiments indicate the ability of the drive to work as a three-phase actuator. Furthermore, it is found that both controllers perform satisfactory in different speed whilst the latter, ie, super twisting controller performs better at higher speed.
