Recently, core-periphery (CP) structure as another mesoscale structure of complex networks has been observed in many real-world systems, which can be viewed as a significant property of complex networks. Though considerable efforts have gone into the investigation of a famous mesoscale structure known as community structure, the investigation of CP structure is very limited. In this work, we develop a new algorithm to detect the CP structure based on high-order connectivity patterns described by 3-tuple motifs, where the patterns of edges as well as the property of nodes in subgraphs are considered.
