Industry-academic collaboration is a strategic necessity in today’s fragmented and turbulent economy. Advisory boards offer an effective way to achieve mutually beneficial and sustained collaboration. This article is based on in-depth case studies and comparisons of four advisory boards in US colleges that offer IS programs. It provides archetypes that encapsulate different models for implementing advisory boards and best practices that summarize the key insights from the cases.
