Information on genetic variation, heritability and yield correlations is derived from data on 9 yield components in 53 genotypes studied in Joydebpur during 1993. High values for heritability and genetic advance were estimated for plant height, number of pods per plant, seeds per pod, 1000-seed weight and yield per plant. Yield per plant was significantly and positively correlated with plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of pods per plant, pod length, number of seeds per pod and 1000-seed weight. Pod length exerted the highest positive direct effect on yield.
