World Bank’s data from 2012 suggest that by 2025, there are going to be 4.3 billion urban residents generating about 1.42 kg/capital/day of municipal solid waste. The waste management cost is projected to increase to about $375.5 billion in 2025 from an annual of about $205.4 billion in 2012 [1]. At present, approximately 50% of total population of world are residing in cities. These data display that the waste management is going to be a very expensive aspect of governance.
