Close monitoring of mucosal inflammation in Crohn’s disease [CD] is paramount to objectively evaluate therapeutic responses and make informed therapeutic decisions. 1 While undergoing recurrent endoscopies is inconvenient to most patients, other available monitoring tools such as C-reactive protein and faecal calprotectin demonstrate inconsistent correlation with endoscopic disease activity and also lack specificity, 2, 3 or are not yet globally available such as with intestinal ultrasound.
