简介
This paper presents the initial steps of an empirical investigation into the impacts of widespread 2 autonomous vehicle (AV) adoption under a number of different use cases for the largest urban 3 metropolis in Canada: the Greater Toronto Area This paper provides an overview of the rationale 4 for numerous different decisions made with respect to the design of a data collection instrument. 5 The data collection instrument’s development was done to better understand how end users are 6 expected to use AVs (in regards to conventional ownership versus ride-hailing services) and how 7 preferences for these use cases differ based on a wide range of service attributes. Factors such as 8 trip purpose, AV penetration rate on the roadway and cost of AVs are examined. The rationale 9 for how this information is collected and why it is important is reviewed in the paper. Finally, the 10 paper presents the results of a preliminary modelling exercise done in the context of the 11 responses to the stated preference portion of the survey. This analysis shows that a two-stage 12 decision procedure where consideration set and choice conditional on the consideration set are 13 jointly modeled provide more intuitive results than naïve unconstrained consideration set 14 assumptions alone. The paper concludes with key findings and questions from the preliminary 15 analysis and planned future work to be done using the collected data. 16 17
