简介
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), also known in the literature as e-waste, is an important source of secondary raw materials. This equipment includes materials that are easy to recycle like metals, plastics, glass, or other metals (Goodship and Stevels 2012). The hazardous substances present in the equipment constitute a serious threat to health and the environment. Meeting the requirements of effective and sustainable waste management, a concept of a circular approach towards resources conservation, has appeared in the economy (Korhonen et al. 2018). It greatly facilitates waste management and the recovery of raw materials or energy from the WEEE stream. The coronavirus pandemic announced by World Health Organization (Time 2020) also increased the number of equipments sold in the market due to the need to use information and telecommunications tools and devices (Statista 2020). Working and learning from home by the individuals increased purchases of the necessary equipment, which in the future will contribute to an increase in the volume of equipments withdrawn from use and the need to develop them. The circular economy (CE) approach (Fig. 1) allows for greater care for the natural environment and resource management (Ning 2001). One of the commonly disposed of categories of waste from households is e-waste. Taking into consideration relatively easy collection, disassembling, and recycling of WEEE, it can fulfill the requirements of CE. However, it is necessary to use appropriate technologies when disassembling that equipment. The level of recycling and recovery of individual raw materials …
