This manuscript introduces a study for improvement of power quality (PQ) in distribution network with renewable energy (RE). PQ improvement is achieved by application of distribution static compensator (DSATCOM) equipped with a battery energy storage system (BESS) on the DC link capacitor. This DSTATCOM control is achieved using a synchronous reference frame theory (SRFT). A hybrid method is designed using features computed from voltage signal by application of Stockwell transform (ST) and Hilbert transform (HT) to assess improvement in quality of power by the use of DSTATCOM equipped with BESS. Study is performed on a distribution grid realized by IEEE-13 nodes test system equipped with the DSTATCOM, a wind power plant (WPP) and a solar power plant (SPP) MATLAB/Simulink environment.
