In opportunistic spectrum access networks (OSAN) procedures for spectrum sensing have to be designed in such a way that the probability of miss-detection and false alarm, should not exceed a certain level, while detecting the presence of the licensed user (LU) of a radio channel. One of the approaches-that minimizes the error in detection-is to combine measurements from various nodes within an OSAN. Here we propose a TDMA-based protocol for exchange and management of spectrum sensing data, that exploits cooperative sensing. Our work is accompanied by the analysis of the effects of node mobility during the contention of nodes for channels in our protocol. We present a comprehensive study of an OSAN system.
