In this chapter, we address the issues associated with the centralized marketplaces in 5G networks. We study how a distributed alternative based on blockchain and smart contract technology could replace the costly and inefficient third‐party‐based trust intermediaries. We propose a smart contract based on a sealed‐bid double auction to allow resource providers and enterprise users to trade resources on a distributed marketplace. We have explained the implementation of this marketplace application on Hyperledger Fabric permissioned blockchain while deploying the network using a pragmatic scenario over a public, commercial cloud. We evaluated the distributed marketplace's performance under different transaction loads, and the results showed that the marketplace could process up to 400 auction transactions per second while maintaining the latency under 1 s.
