High-temperature proton conductors are promising electrolytes for solid oxide fuel cells and membranes for hydrogen separation and purification. Among them, BaCeO3-based materials have high proton conductivity but lack chemical stability. In this study, the investigation of BaIn0. 3-xYxCe0. 7O3-δ (x= 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) solid solutions has been undertaken, with the overall objective of finding a composition having both high conductivity and good stability.
Solid oxide fuel cells have attracted considerable attention worldwide for their high energy conversion efficiency and low environmental impact and played an important role in the hydrogen economy. During the past two decades, rare earth doped BaCeO3 and BaZrO3 have received considerable attention as good proton conductors [1].
