I was fortunate to start my Ph. D. within a unique setup between an applied and an academic university, a situation all parties benefited from in the end. It is generally very rewarding to work in multiple environments with so many different skilled people and ideas.

Starting with project-related IT-engineering work in a full-time job in 2016, socio-economic models, statistics, and survey evaluation became a kind of passion for me. As mobility technology progressed incredibly fast and the research was interdisciplinary, I invested a lot of energy in the thesis to be able to publish it quickly. Consequently, the empirical part went comparably smoothly, although my two children were born in 2019 and 2021, which probably made me lose some good sleep.
