The incidence of diabetes and its associated complications are increasing day by day which needs to be tackled at the earliest. There is a need to formulate novel drug formulations that can show a high efficacy rate and reduce the risk of infection. Metallic nanoparticles are extensively used in the biomedical field to treat different diseases. Silver nanoparticles demonstrate the ability to treat diabetic wounds by rapid healing. They are used not only for diabetic wounds but also in pharmaceutical formulations to treat malignant diseases like cancer. Silver nanoparticles exhibit antimicrobial activity by altering the bacterial attack at the infection site. Since an increase in matrix metalloproteinase supports the pathogenesis of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU).
