Background
Identifying biomarkers associated with neurodegenerative diseases and their progression may enable patient enrichment and improve clinical trial designs.
Method
Genomic studies have revealed correlations between genetics, transcriptomics, and epigenetics with disease pathology and diagnosis in the brain and peripheral blood. For example, previous studies have showed that rate of cognitive decline estimated by slopes of cognitive scores associated with change in DNA methylation.
Result
Several of these genomic marks point to proteomic changes, especially given the chromosomal location of these differentially expressed or methylated marks. Moreover, since proteins represent a key class of biomolecules that will help illustrate real‐time human biology, we tested a targeted proteomic analysis using the Olink platform.
