An investigation has been conducted in a large open-air hydraulics model facility of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology to gather data and information on the performance of bottom vane system under mobile bed condition. Vanes were placed at the bends of the model channel and performance of vanes has been experimented for different layout keeping the number of vanes and all other hydraulic parameters unchanged. The layouts are (i) single row,(ii) double row (iii) triple row layout. The total number of vanes was kept same in all cases, but the longitudinal spacing between vanes was changed. Test results indicate that near bank stream wise velocity reduced by nearly 48% with vane provided in single row and near bank channel recovery was achieved by nearly 30%.
