简介
Amongst the current techniques for rapid prototyping of microdevices, microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) have become the foremost and most cost-effective. In this article, microchannel parameters have been optimized based on the fluids used in the testing. Imbibition dynamics were seen in μPADs, which is due to the capillary effect. The velocity of the fluids in the porous medium microchannels was measured by the electrical response obtained during the flow from the electrodes integrated in the microchannel, connected to the microprocessor. Based on the measured time, relative viscosity was calculated. The relative viscosity has a wide range of applications in medical diagnostics and in adulterants detection. This results not only in developing a point-of-a-care device but also in a highly cost-effective device as well.
