简介
As a long-time researcher in music cognition (see [4] for an overview of the field), I applaud Prof. Wiggins and his colleagues for creating a cognitive architecture with music-often treated at best as a kind of curiosity or sidebar in cognitive science-as a prime motivation. In line with Wiggins' goal to"[identify] points where empirical studies might support or refute the proposal"(p. 3), I relate his description of IDyOT's overall goals and process to a real-world phenomenon: memory for musical form [2], in the area of popular songs. Memory, imagery, structure, and creativity are the keywords here, and their interconnections the substance.
