The discussion in this chapter is centred on the partnership of media, literacy and education for sustainable development based on the Letters for Life, an adult literacy community project. This example proposes an integrated approach to enhance sustainable development, with impacts on “Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” and “Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls” of the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” (UN, Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, A/RES/70/1, 2015).
To illustrate the positive impacts of the project, we use significant life narratives from the participants and we critically describe methodology and activities, which are a community-based participatory action research approach.
