Soil salinisation negatively affects growth and yield of potato crop especially under arid and semiarid climate. Salt tolerance induction by salicylic acid (SA) depends on its concentration, crop, and its growth stage. An experiment was, therefore, conducted to optimise SA concentration that induced maximum salt tolerance in two potato cultivars, N-Y LARA (tolerant) and 720-110 NARC (sensitive). Different SA concentrations (control, 0.25, 0.50 ck, 0.75, 1.00, and 1.25 mM) were applied to their foliage after 7 days of salt stress (50 mM) induction. 0.5–0.89 mM SA induced maximum salt tolerance compared to the other treatments and this was confirmed through increased antioxidant activities of catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and peroxidase (POD); osmoregulation; proline and total phenolic contents (TPC); water relations; gaseous exchange; morphological parameters; tuber yield; and potassium (K …
