This paper presents channel assignment for self coexistence among Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs). A set of access points (APs) using similar radio systems competing for channel resources is the self coexistence problem. The channel assignment for all the APs is proposed to be controlled by a centralized server. We propose that this central server receives the pair-wise interference indices from all the APs in their vicinity as well as the channel quality indicator values for all the channels. The channels are then assigned based on these two factors. The two factors are optimized and the optimization problem is formulated as a quadratic integer programming (QIP) problem. To avoid the NP-hard complexity of this QIP formulation, we propose a near-optimal heuristic algorithm called (Minimum Interference and Maximum Quality based Channel Assignment) that can be obtained at a much lower …
