MATERIALS AND METHODS
Plant Materials Rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. Nipponbare, IR36 and Kitaibuki) seedlings were grown under white fluorescent light (12h light period/d) at 25 C and 70% relative humidity in a growth cabinet for 2 weeks. For cold treatment, the leaf segments were incubated on 10 ml distilled water in 6015 mm Petri dishes in a growth chamber at 5 C under a 12 h photoperiod prior to sampling.
