As a contribution to CSC’s Pilot project for PC clusters, tools needed to be searched and tested. At the beginning of the project, little was known about/of the quality and the amount of parallel tools for Linux. There was also a lack of practical experience on PC clusters. These two issues led to two main goals: implementing a cluster with the help of the MPI message passing library, and installing the tools on that cluster.
