Background: The National Institute of Health recently emphasized the need for more extensive research into how precision nutrition approaches can be used to prevent and treat cancer. Previous observational studies have suggested a possible protective role for certain food groups, including nuts, cruciferous vegetables, citrus fruits, garlic and tomatoes in reducing colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence. However, discrepancies remain between studies and previous meta-analyses on single food items have yielded contradictory findings. This study sought to subject all available data to pooled analysis to statistically define the association between these food groups and CRC risk.
