Biochar, a soil amendment material, which consists of various types of plant biomass and wastes are burned perfectly to produce charcoal. This charcoal contains organic C and complete nutrients. Biochar can improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil, as well as improve crop production. This study was a field experiment in a farmer field in Batu, about 15 km southeast of Malang, East Java, Indonesia, Alfisol type and 8% surface slope. The objective of this research to examine the effect of biochar on soil fertility and crop yield in intercropping pattern of cassava and maize. The method used was 1) field experiment using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with the following treatment: 1.
