Methods

eResearch is a proprietary system developed at the Cleveland Clinic which enables retrieval of patient information according to rules provided by investigators that take into account diagnoses, procedures, lab results and medications, upon Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. For SARP recruitment purposes, we implemented a step-wise screening protocol. This method was used to narrow down subjects included in the output, to the most up-to-date and relevant cohort. The order of steps used for identifying the cohort, is presented in Table 1.
