简介
The terms “Napkin dermatitis,”“diaper dermati-tis,”“nappy rash,” and “diaper rash” are used to encompass a wide range of inflammatory processes that occur in the area covered by a diaper. Although they are essentially descriptions of the location of the rash, we usually mean an eruption caused directly by the wearing of diapers (primary irritant napkin dermatitis), as opposed to diseases aggravated by diapers (eg, psoriasis) or those that occur in that location but are unrelated to diapers (eg, acrodermaitis enteropathica, Letterer-Siwe disease, and others). The precise role of diapers, even in irritant diaper dermatitis, however, remains to be established.
