Todays, the construction industry not only plays an important role in improving the quality of the built environment, but also has a negative effect on the environment. Therefore, the theory of sustainable development stems from the environmental movements in previous decades; however, it was not actually defined until 1987 by the World Commission on Environment and Development. It is defined as" development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".
