METHODS
Three tissue microarrays (TMA) were immunostained for AGR2 and CD10-1) UCLA primary tumor TMA constructed from 246 randomly selected hormone-naïve surgery cases with 3 morphologically representative biopsies per tumor; biochemical recurrence was the indication used for failure; 2) UW prostate cancer metastasis TMA22 constructed from donor autopsies (ie, representative of the late-stage disease) with n= 248 cores from 124 sites of 23 patients; 3) UW LuCaP xenograft TMA46 with n= 24 serially passaged in mice. AGR2 protein was detected by ELISA.
RESULTS
The phenotype CD10 low AGR2 high in primary tumors showed a 9-fold higher biochemical recurrence-free survival than CD10 high AGR2 low; CD10 high AGR2 high and CD10 low AGR2 low showed intermediate survival.
