The scientific study focuses on analysis of baselines for the use of spent fuel and radioactive waste in circular economy within the broader framework of state energy security. On the basis of both European and national strategies and existing legislation, it defines the essence of the circular model of the economy and within it the concept and meaning of waste management. It analyses the approach and regulation for the management of a specific type of waste, which is nuclear waste compared to other wastes. On this basis, it examines “de lege lata” possibilities for further use of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste in the increasing demands of the company for energy sources. It assesses the direction and impact of strategic documents at both international and national level in relation to the analyzed topic.
