I. Introduction hypersonic inlet plays a key role in a vehicle system from the aerodynamic performance point of view. On the one hand, a well-designed inlet can increase thrust by compressing captured flows more efficiently into the downstream combustion chamber. On the other hand, hypersonic inlets are becoming more and more important when practical concerns are considered, for instance, the trend of highly integration with vehicle systems. These factors motivate the scientists to explore more inlet design techniques and to investigate more deeply of flow physics inside an inlet.
