In recent years the interest in adopting novel wireless Maritime data transmission technologies has peaNed, given the difficulties concerning the wired communication inside a ship’s structural complexity, alongside the difficulty in its installation process and its cost. A simulation of the feasibility of wireless data transmission in ships with LoRa, a narrow bandwidth long-range technology, in the domain of Internet of Marine Things (IoMT) using NS3, is being presented in this article. To simulate the interior and exterior environment of a ship, a new steel material was implemented in NS3 and was used as the material for the hull and the rooms of the vessel.
