Crop residue burning is one of the significant contributors to air pollution in Northwestern India during Kharif (Monsoon) and Rabi (Winter) seasons. The paper investigates the potential of VIIRS 1 Satellite data and Sentinel-2 based Satellite data in Spatial and Temporal Resolution in the assessment of Burned Area in Haryana, India. This paper compares Yearly Burned Area estimation based on remote sensing for the Haryana region: Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Direct Broadcast Monthly Burned Area Product (MCD64A1), experimental hybrid VIIRS and Sentinel-2 (V2S) Scheme. The experimental data are analyzed, and the performance compares through reference data obtained by VIIRS fire events.
