简介
The goal of this paper is to examine the opportunities of using robots in hazardous manufacturing processes instead of humans. A systematic literature review with the help of a mapping study is conducted to show how advanced robots can be used to replace human operators in carrying out dangerous manufacturing works. Robots are usually constructed, shaped, and programmed in such a way that can assist or replace humans to do certain works and mimic their actions. Today, using robots in manufacturing is natural for automating repetitive tasks, doing hazardous operations, reducing error margins and maximizing efficiency and gaining competitive advantage, and enabling human workers to focus on more productive areas. In addition to robots, assistive technologies based on Industry 4.0 are also coming in to help humans with laborious tasks. Some application fields of manufacturing where all these technologies can be extremely useful are performing hazardous manufacturing tasks, such as furnace tapping, industrial battery assembling, drugs and chemicals manufacturing, welding operations, and reducing the amount of ergonomically challenging processes which in turn can bring enormous benefits for these manufacturing industries. Replacing human operators lowers the risk of accidents and threats, moreover, manufacturing processes can be made faster, safer, more reliable, and more efficient with the help of such robots.
The article will explore ScienceDirect database to find and unravel how manufacturing robots and the related technologies can replace human operators, making the dangerous tasks automated from manual while …
