With the advancement of e-commerce, online transactions purchases using credit and debit cards have drastically increased. This has caused a burst in credit and debit card fraud and has become a profoundly significant global issue. Fraud touches every area of our lives and is a growing concern that effects both businesses and customers. As machine learning techniques provide unique and efficient solutions, they are applicable in various types of problems. Recently, machine learning algorithms have been widely applied as a data mining technique for classification problems. In this paper, a binary classification problem is considered where a transaction can be classified as either fraudulent or legitimate transaction.
