Optimal radio access network selection for fast and efficient vertical handover decisions in a wireless heterogeneous network to provide seamless connectivity to ensure a wide range of services to multimode mobile terminals is one of the most challenging fields of research in mobility management in mobile communication. Various multiattribute decision-making-based network selection techniques have been proposed that use subjective, objective, and integrated weight computation methods. In this paper, we investigate the impact of various weighting methods on TOPSIS, VIKOR, and GRA ranking methods to determine how and what effects they have on the ping-pong handover of mobile nodes during roaming in heterogeneous wireless communication.
